Job Readiness Session

Posted by:

As a student, would you have been interested to learn from industry experts on current hiring trends, what it means to have a career in the technology field, and learn what not to put on your resume?

The Nashville Technology Council’s T3 Initiative can do just that for your students via a program geared towards interested students.   The Job Readiness Session is being rolled out to all universities during the spring semester. At this session industry experts discuss with students how to write a resume and cover letter, what social networking sites they should utilize, what the hot jobs in the market are, and they answer any questions the students have.

Check out what participants from the pilot program had to say about their experiences.

“Thanks for the great job readiness session!!  The feedback from students has been excellent and they enjoyed the opportunity to hear from IT people who currently are involved in the hiring process and what they look for in a candidate.  The interactive nature of the session was a high point that we saw commented on many times by the students.  We look forward to hosting sessions in the future!”
- Dr. Edward Anthony, Associate Professor, IT & Management, Trevecca Nazarene University

“Working with students to help them prepare for the realities of the workplace is an honor. In a short session, we shared some deep truths learned over many years of trial & error. I have since received multiple calls and emails telling me that we did provide useful and actionable information.”
-Michael Galo, President & & IT Strategist

“It’s so important that technology students know they’ve got a rich peer group in the NTC.  It’s not just about sharing knowledge and experiences, but about making connections.  We’re all interested in being a resource and a friend even when the presentations are over.”
- David Ledgerwood, President and CEO, ALOC Group, LLC

Guest Speaker Series

One of the most exciting programs to come out of the Nashville Technology Council’s Turning the Tide of Technology Initiative is the T3 Guest Speaker Series. This program allows Business Leaders to make a real and meaningful impact on students as well as reinforce the curriculum Academic leaders are teaching.

Check out what a Guest Speaker Series participant is saying about the program:

“I enjoyed presenting to the class. They asked great questions and were eager to learn. The class consisted of 19 men and one woman. It reminded me that I should work to find ways to increase awareness of technology opportunities for women in high schools and also in the workforce.”
-Beth Chase, President & CEO, C3 Consulting, LLC, Guest Speaker at Lipscomb University.

Below you will find a list of topics our Business Leaders are interested in speaking on:

T3 Fund

The NTC has recently developed a T3 Fund. This was created to financially support the Turning the Tide of Technology Initiative. The T3 Initiative has a budget of $20,000 that is necessary to cover the program expenses which include staff, on campus activities, refreshments, travel, marketing material, and a media campaign.

We are asking all Business and Academic Leaders who are participating in the initiative to support it. We feel if we meet our goal of $20,000, we will be able to sustain the initiative through at least the first year of its development and build a foundation for the future.

The T3 (Turning the Tide of Technology) Initiative is in full swing where members are hosting student events at participating Colleges and Universities, attending Academic Career Fairs, and hosting studnet congress meetings, creating marketing material, and this new website. The costs incurred from these are funded from the T3 Fund.

We have developed suggested in-kind donation items. Please check all the ways you would like to support the initiative as well as who we need to contact regarding each donation.

If you would like to make an in-kind donation to the T3 Fund, please click here.
