T3 Fund

The NTC has recently developed a T3 Fund. This was created to financially support the Turning the Tide of Technology Initiative.  The T3 Initiative has a budget of $20,000 that is necessary to cover the program expenses which include staff, on campus activities, refreshments, travel, marketing material, and a media campaign.

We are asking all Business and Academic Leaders who are participating in the initiative to support it. We feel if we meet our goal of $20,000, we will be able to sustain the initiative through at least the first year of its development and build a foundation for the future.

The T3 (Turning the Tide of Technology) Initiative will have a fall implementation where the NTC and members of the T3 Initiative will be on site at participating Universities/Colleges.  Events will be planned for each facility where we will be hosting students.  The costs incurred will be funded from the T3 Technology Fund. We hope to reach our donation goal of $20,000.

We have developed suggested giving levels:

Bronze $250.00
Silver $1,000.00
Gold $2,500.00
*Make your donation electronically by clicking on the amount above

Giving the Experience You Always Wanted

Giving the Experience You Always Wanted
We all remember the day when it happened, our first job interview. We were nervous, maybe frightened, and it’s ok to admit, a little sweaty! And we all remember when we heard the question, “What experience do you have?” We froze. What experience did we have?  Well if we didn’t count the class project or the summer job at the fast food place, not much. And really how were we supposed to get that experience? How were we supposed to learn what it is like to work in an 8-5 business environment when we were in college? As business professionals looking back on those first job interview experiences, most of us probably have the same feeling, man I wish I knew then what I know now. I know exactly what I would have done, I would have gotten an Internship!

Internships (paid, unpaid, for credit or just for experience) are the best way, especially in this economy, to get experience in a desired industry. With internships students also make great business connections, learn more about professional development, and grow their knowledge of the industry.

The hesitation most people have about internships is not about the importance of them for students, everyone can agree on that, but it’s about why the business should hire an intern. On the surface it’s a pretty straightforward answer, to give someone the chance you may or may not have gotten. If you had an internship you are paying it forward, if you didn’t you’re giving someone the opportunity you only wish you had.  There is more to it though.

Below are 4 great reasons you should hire an intern:
1. Internships can serve as a semester long interview. Instead of meeting a potential employee for 2 hours and then deciding if you want to hire them, you are getting to see them in action for months.  However, just because you have an internship program does not mean you have to be willing to hire the interns as long as you acknowledge that up front.
2. Additional human resources for seasonal or important projects. You’ve got so much to do and so little time to do it. Why not hire an intern to help you with the work load on big projects or for seasonal activities. Even paid internships are going to be better for your bottom line than most other options.
3. New prospective. Interns can bring fresh prospective and ideas to companies. They are energized and excited about life and about working in your industry.
4. Give experience to your staff and interns at the same time. Have a mid level manager who needs management experience? Interns are a great way to not only give the intern work experience but you can give your mid-level managers management experience as well.
Giving the experience you always wanted to a student can be very rewarding for your bottom line and for your spirit.
